The Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant, in particular its Head Special Engineering Department "Transdiesel", gained wide experience concerning production of the special purpose diesel engines.
A number of foreign countries took up the production licenses on the diesel engines В-46 and В-84 applied in the power plants designed for the tanks Т-72. In 1999, in Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant the development of new tank diesel engine В-92С2 of 1000 hp was completed. It went through all possible tests including the state ones.
In June - July of 1999, in India this diesel engine was successfully tested on the tanks Т-90С to win the contract. The tests were carried out under the hardest desert conditions at high dustiness level at the ambient temperature up to plus 47 °С. This diesel engine proved not only its high reliability but also its high traction performance quality.

The Plant develops the engines more promising for the next-generation machines. But to improve the tanks Т-72, the diesel engine В-92С2 is obviously beyond comparison. Its installation requires minimal re-equipment of the motor-transmission compartment and minimal financial expenditure. The diesel engine В-92С2 equipped with the gas-and-turbine supercharging as well as with the improved fuel facilities and cylinder-piston set, comes up to the level of the best world models. As per its economy capacities and specific weight-and-dimensional rate the diesel engine transcends the most of both domestic and foreign engines.
The weight of the diesel engine В-92С2 is only 1020 kg: that is less for more than twice if compared to the weights of the diesel engines AVDS-1790 (USA), C12V (England), UDV-12-1100 (France). The overall capacity of the diesel engine В-92С2 exceeds theirs for 1.5 - 4.5 times, its fuel efficiency under working conditions is more for 5 - 25%.
The torque backup is also noteworthy. The torque backup of the most diesel engines is 6 - 18%, as for the diesel engine В-92С2 - 25 - 30%. Such torque backup makes the tank control much easier, increases its maneuverability and mean speed.
The moderate overload of diesel engine В-92С2 by its power-per-liter gives the high reliability at hard usage. Without any doubt the diesel engine В-92С2 will be sold readily.

The diesel engine В2Ч 8,2/7,8 has V-type arrangement of cylinders and is equipped with the air cleaner, baffler, electric starter, charging generator, fuel feed pump, fuel and oil filters.
The diesel engine has 11 designs depending on its completeness and adjustment parameters.
At present the users of the diesel engine В2Ч 8,2/7,8 are the following: OJSC "Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant" (the city of Chelyabinsk), OJSC "Projector of Electrical Technician" (the city of Moscow), OJSC "Electric Assembly" (the city of Kursk), OJSC "Elcon" (the city of Barnaul), OJSC "Sarapulsky Electric Generator Plant" (the city of Sarapul), OJSC "Kurganmachzavod" (the city of Kurgan), OJSC "Proletarsky Plant" (the city of Saint-Petersburg).
In view of the market requirements, the design department of our plant developed a family of the water-cooled fuel-efficient diesel engines with a power range from 18 to 55 hp:
- 2-cylinder diesel engine 2М365;
- 4-cylinder diesel engine 4М364;
- 6-cylinder diesel engine 6М366.

The diesel engines of this family are designed for the small-sized agricultural, road and municipal machines, lifting and transport assemblies, electric units, and pump, compressor and hydraulic stations.
Nowadays the test samples are refined considering the customer requirements.
